About This Depression Study
Who Can Participate?
Adults ages 18–70 who have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, are currently taking a qualifying antidepressant, and continue to experience depression symptoms may qualify.
What Is Being Studied?
The study is evaluating ALTO-300, an investigational treatment being studied as an add-on to a participant's current antidepressant medication.
What Happens During the Study?
Eligible participants are randomly assigned to receive ALTO-300 or placebo during the initial double-blind treatment period while continuing their current qualifying antidepressant.

Are 18–70 years old
You are at least 18 years old and under 71 years old.

Have Major Depressive Disorder
You have been diagnosed with MDD and are currently experiencing depression symptoms.

Are Taking an Antidepressant
You are currently taking an eligible antidepressant medication.

Still Experience Depression
Your current antidepressant has not provided enough improvement in your depression symptoms.
Other eligibility requirements apply. The study team will determine whether you qualify.
Study participation
What Participation Includes
Compensation, medical care at no cost, and support to make participation feasible while managing depression.
Compensation Per Visit
- $200
- per completed clinic visit
- $75
- per completed phone visit
Payments are provided by check at the end of each completed visit. You are compensated whether you receive study medication or placebo.
Travel & Meal Reimbursement
Parking, transportation, and meals during site visits are covered. Travel costs are reimbursed so getting to appointments is not a financial burden.

Study medication, psychiatric assessments, health monitoring, labs, ECGs, qEEG testing, and cognitive assessments. No insurance is required. All study-related medical care is provided at no cost to you.

Dr. Maria Johnson and experienced research staff provide careful monitoring throughout the study. Regular assessments track your symptoms and safety during the 6-week treatment and follow-up period.
